We have another Battle of the Bishops competition going this week! Bishop Luers and Bishop Dwenger are both participating in the Project Outdoor Nativity Scene Fundraiser and competing to see who can sell the most kits! If our schools sell 150 kits collectively, BLHS and BDHS will receive free delivery of the kits to the Fort Wayne area! Order yours today at bishopluers.org. Deadline is Monday, October 7. #LuersSpirit

Have you purchased your tickets yet? The BLHS Fall Play "Is There a Comic in the House?" is this weekend! Come out and see what our talented students have been working on the past few months. Showtimes are October 7th and 8th at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 each. Order at bishopluers.org today! Summary: Seven wildly funny comedians, including the landlady, live in Shotzie Starr's boarding house. The only "normal" resident is Shotzie's granddaughter whose pizza delivering boyfriend is you guessed it an aspiring comedian. The action at Shotzie's becomes manic when bumbling kidnappers crash their van and take refuge there with their victim, a haughty socialite, in tow. Police surround the house and the unrestrainable comics are suddenly in the proximity of reporters' TV cameras. All hilarity breaks loose, on stage and in the audience! #LuersSpirit

Students were learning the concepts of Desocialization and Resocialization in Sociology this morning. Mr. Davis questioned the students on what is considered a normal way to eat cereal. To demonstrate the concept of Desocialization, students were given cheerios and pasta noodles and were instructed, without using their hands, to pick up the cheerios with the pasta in their mouths and eat them instead of using a spoon. #LuersSpirit

Today BLHS had a staff retreat in the afternoon. Guest speaker Bob Kloska came to speak about his life and how his journey has led him to understand that God is truly real. Bob has had cancer three times, yet God has blessed him with a joyful perspective on life and a gratitude for all the good that came out of such a seemingly bad situation. Staff then attended Mass in the BLHS chapel, celebrated by Fr. Paolo Degasperi. #LuersSpirit

BLHS athletes recently participated in a 3-mile march from the school to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, led by Fr. Patrick Hake and Fr. Paolo Degasperi. They had a Mass at BLHS first, prayed as they went, and had a final blessing in the Cathedral. The purpose was to walk to the home of Our Lady and to entrust the season to her, asking for her protection and support. #LuersSpirit
