Bishop Luers Announces National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

Bishop Luers High School is pleased to announce that Senior Celia Eyrich has been named a Semifinalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. Celia is the daughter of Chad and Rachael Eyrich of Fort Wayne, IN. Celia plays volleyball and basketball, and also edits the student newspaper. She will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring. Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a national Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar tile.

Celia describes herself and her family as "very happy" for this honor, and the opportunities it brings:

"I will now qualify for additional scholarship opportunities, which always helps out, and I have more colleges reaching out to me as well. I will probably pursue a STEM major, and will I'm currently evaluating my college options."

Celia credits her teachers in helping her to prepare to become a Semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program:

"At Bishop Luers, our teachers really invest in us. That investment pushes me to perform. I believe that is why I did as well as I did."

Congratulations Celia! Go Knights!
