The Goals

The guidance and counseling program at Bishop Luers High School is designed to meet the developmental needs of the student body, as well as to respond to each individual student's special needs and interests. The goals of our program are concentrated into three developmental areas:

Learning to Learn - Achieving Educational Success

  • Students Orientation and Parent Education
  • Test and Record Interpretation
  • Classroom Guidance Activities
  • Goal-Setting and Tracking
  • Curriculum Advising and Scheduling based on Stated Goals
  • Referrals for Special Needs Placement

Learning to Work - Career Exploration and Planning

  • College Planning
  • Career Education
  • Job Placement
  • Parent Information Nights

Learning to Live - Personal and Social Development

  • Individual and Group Counseling
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Support for Students and their Families
  • Referrals to Professional Services

These guidance goals are implemented through consultations with teachers, parents, administrators, support staff and outside agencies. Students have the same guidance counselor for all four years of their high school career. Counselors guide students in their decision-making processes concerning personal, academic and career goals. We provide the tools for individual success.
