TARDY
POLICY: Effective January 3, 2008
It is important for students to be punctual to school, as
this will help develop good habits for the workforce. The school acknowledges that a variety of
circumstances exist that may prevent a student’s punctuality. Due to the variety of circumstances, students
are allotted two tardies to school
per nine weeks as freebies. The third,
and each tardy thereafter, will warrant a detention. On the
fifth tardy, and each tardy thereafter, students will not be allowed to attend
their first period class; this will be in addition to a detention. Students who are not allowed to attend first
period will not receive credit for the day.
If a student reaches seven tardies in one nine week period, a conference
will be held to determine further action.
A Friday school, in-school suspension, or out-of-school suspension may
be issued.
A student is tardy when he/she is not in his/her assigned
place when the bell rings to begin the class period. Students tardy to first period must be
present by 8:15 am. Students arriving after 8:15 am will be considered to have
an unexcused absence. Make-up work will
be at the discretion of the teacher. No
distinctions will exist between an excused and an unexcused tardy to first
hour.
