Bishop Luers Construction Update
We're Almost There! Bishop Luers multimillion-dollar renovation project is over 90% complete and already beginning to pay off.
Our students and staff are "basking" in the coolness of air conditioning. This air, new boilers, new outside windows, corridor and gymnasium lighting, and a new, energy-efficient facade, was made possible due to our benefactors' generosity. BUT, we fell about $100,000 dollars short of our goal. That amount is needed to finish the exterior of the north side of the building. Of course, this first phase needs to be completed before we begin the second phase of the Faith in our Future campaign. The second phase involves a much-needed second gym.
A major goal of the Phase One was to improve the 50-year-old building’s energy efficiency. Replacing hundreds of old single-pane windows with modern window systems and insulated panels has cut our heating expense. The building is far less drafty, and more comfortable overall. The modern, high-efficiency boiler system is using less natural gas, but generating more heat than the Eisenhower-era boiler it replaced.
The hallways are lighter and brighter due to new, more energy efficient fixtures. The sell-out crowds at Bishop Luers basketball games are raving about the new fresh air ventilation system. The fabric ductwork works great and looks even better. The building has a new modern updated look that is also more energy efficient.
Please Help Us Finish The JobThe Luers Family has shown outstanding support for this project, and our sincere thanks go to everyone who contributed to the Faith In Our Future capital campaign. Bishop Luers High School is looking better than ever, but there are still some parts of the school stuck in the 1950’s. The budget simply didn’t stretch far enough to allow the façade improvements to reach the band room, cafeteria, and the classrooms along the north side.
That’s why we’re reaching out again to Bishop Luers supporters asking for your help to bring the entire school into the present. Now is the best time to complete the building’s exterior renovation. Materials will only become more expensive, and it’s more efficient to complete the improvements while everyone involved in the project is still on-site.
Please send your fully tax deductible contribution with your student and ask him or her to deliver it to my office. Or, mail your contribution to:
