The Bishop Luers Lacrosse Club was founded in 1998 by
13 students and has grown exponentially each year. The
Club is a member of the Indiana High School Lacrosse
Association. One of 23 participating schools in the
state, our Knights have fared well and advanced to the
state playoffs two times. They progressed to the final
four in 2002.
In 2004 our group grew to 52 players from Luers,
Homestead, Canterbury, Southside and Dwenger. Our
reserve and varsity teams fared well in their respective
competitions and the varsity boys advanced to the state
playoff tournament.
Homestead and Canterbury have been spun off to form a
third Fort Wayne team as the sport continues to evolve
as it has in other schools and states.
Lacrosse History
Lacrosse was invented by the early American Indians.
When the settlers came to North America they adopted the
game from the Indians and the current rules have evolved
since then. A sport involving the speed, quickness and
grace of Hockey, the team play and ball movement of
soccer and the weaves and precision play of basketball,
Lacrosse is a game made for all body types and skill
levels.
Come find out what a great experience Lacrosse can
be, both as a participant or a spectator.
