INTRODUCTION TO TWO DIMENSIONAL

This is a beginning-level class in drawing, painting, and printmaking emphasizing works in two-dimensions. The elements and principles of art are stressed.

 

Course Length: One Semester

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12

Diploma: Core 40,

Honors Prerequisites: None

 

INTRODUCTION TO THREE DIMENSIONAL ART

This is a beginning-level three-dimensional class emphasizing both additive and subtractive forms of sculpture.

 

Course Length: One Semester

Weight Value: 0 Credits: 2

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12

Diploma: Core 40,

Honors Prerequisites: Intro to 2D

 

ADVANCED TWO-DIMENSIONAL ART

This is a second-level course where students will build on the sequential learning experiences of Introduction to Two-Dimensional Art. The course includes advanced projects in drawing, painting, and printmaking.

Grade Level: 10, 11, 12

Diploma: Core 40,

Honors Prerequisites: (B or higher) Intro. to Two-Dimensional/Three-Dim. Art

 

 

 

 

ADVANCED THREE-DIMENSIONAL ART

This is a second-level course in sculpture requiring projects in additive and subtractive forms of a much higher level. Students will implement design elements of form and function.

 

Course Length: Semester with the ability to repeat this course once for additional credit

Weight Value: 0 Credits: 1

Grade Level: 12 Diploma: Core 40,

Honors Prerequisites: (B+ or higher) Intro. to Two-Dimensional/Three-Dim. Art and one or both of the following - Advanced Three-Dimensional Art or Advanced Two Dimensional Art with instructor approval.

 

DIGITAL DESIGN I

This is a beginning-level course that introduces students to Adobe software Illustrator and InDesign. The students will manipulate photographic images, design page layout, and create original digital art.

 

Course Length: Semester

Weight Value: 0 Credits: 1

Grade Level: 11, 12

Diploma: Core 40, Honors Prerequisites: none

 

DIGITAL DESIGN II

This is an advanced course where the students will build on the skills learned in Digital Design I. The course begins with a unit on digital photography. The focus of the course is on developing skills in Adobe software Photoshop and InDesign creating original digital art. A smart phone or digital camera is required.

 

Course Length: Semester

Weight Value: 0 Credits: 1

Grade Level: 11, 12

Diploma: Core 40,

Honors Prerequisites: (B+ or higher) Digital Design I with instructor approval.

 

 

Curriculum requirements:

  1. No pre-requisite for both Intro 2D/3D – both open to grades 9-12
  2. No pre-requisite for Digital Design – open to grades 11-12
  3. Digital Design II with instructor permission

 

Class sizes:

          A limit of 15 students for 3D courses

          A limit of 16 students for Digital Design (until computer issues resolved)

          A limit of 15 students for advanced classes (due to intensive and large scale work)
