The Bishop Luers Academic Super Bowl English team took the state runners-up post in Class-C competition at Purdue University on May 6. They lost by just two points. The team consists of senior Sophie Gernhardt, juniors Grace Georgi and Margaret Cicchiello, sophomore Rachel Notter, and freshman Mary Cicchiello.
They won first place at the Leo Regional Competition among the Class-C schools. The team ranked fourth among the Class C schools in the state. The Top 7 teams are selected to go to state competition.
The overall topic is the French Revolution with the English team focusing on the "Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens and the poetry of William Blake, William Wordsworth and Lord Byron.
The team has worked outside of school on the challenging works. The coaches are Jordan Miller and Kathy Schall. Monica Zwick is our site coordinator.
