PARENT
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
(Volunteer Form)
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school
year at Bishop Luers! Our blessings are many at Luers. We pride
ourselves in guiding our students spiritually, academically, and
socially.
To offset the
differences between tuition and what it actually costs to
educate a student we have fundraisers. Due to the constant need
for successful fundraising, the time and talents of parents are
required for our three major fundraisers.... Walk-A-Thon, Luers
Loot Rummage Sale, and LuersKnight. In addition, our Alumni
Office holds a Fund Drive each year to raise additional funds
for the school. The Bishop Luers School Board has adopted a
policy that the school expects 100% parent/guardian
participation. The attached Parent Volunteer form provides you
with information and the opportunity to register as a volunteer
for the fundraising activities of your choice.
Before each fundraiser,
information will be sent home with students and will be relayed
to parents through the mail or through our online newsletter,
KnightNotes.
The following are brief descriptions of each fundraiser and
volunteer opportunities...
-
Walk-A-Thon:
Friday, October 2, 2010:
Students collect pledges from friends, family, neighbors,
businesses, and teachers before the day of Walk-A-Thon. On
October 2nd,
students and supervisors will walk a planned route in the
Luers neighborhoods during the morning, return to the school
cafeteria for a free lunch, and then have the afternoon off.
Parent volunteers are needed to help that day at
checkpoints, bike patrol, traffic supervision, and with
lunch preparation & cleanup. Volunteers are needed before
the fundraiser for preparations, to solicit incentive prizes
for the students, to bake cookies, to send in candy or pop
and for bookkeeping (counting and recording the money
raised.)
-
Alumni:
See Page 2 for the listing of help needed for the Alumni
Department’s activities and fundraisers including a golf
outing, homecoming tailgate party and a Walk/Run event.
-
“Luers Loot”
Rummage Sale, May/June 2010:
Volunteers are needed for the planning committee, sorting
and setting up donations, picking up large items, and
working the sale. Save your donations throughout the school
year!
-
LuersKnight,
Friday April 23, 2010:
Many helping hands are needed all school year for the
planning of this major fundraiser that is held in our gym,
which will be beautifully decorated. Attendees will be
guaranteed a lovely evening with a delicious dinner, along
with entertainment from the fine arts department, and the
opportunity to bid at the silent & live auctions. Please
read over the Parent Volunteer Form for the many different
ways you can help. Check off any and all you may be
interested in. In addition to these volunteer
opportunities, please keep in mind that it is Luers’
tradition that all parents assist with LuersKnight as
follows (mark your calendars!):
-
Parents
of Seniors: Help with physical set up on Friday, the
week before LuersKnight
(Date: evening of Friday, April 16).
-
Parents

to support our event; some involve bringing a gift. You may also
buy a ticket to an event. Others involve a meal. Your
continued support is what is needed most; attending, sponsoring
and/or working these parties.
