Description:

Bishop Luers High School is a Catholic high school owned and operated by the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.  It serves students from Fort Wayne, Aboite, Huntington, Monroeville, Decatur, New Haven, Ossian, and the surrounding community.

Faculty:

Total of 41 faculty members, all holding at least BS or BA degrees and more than half holding advanced degrees; all certified by the state of Indiana.  Bishop Luers has guidance and counseling departments, a pastoral minister and three chaplains.

 

 

Students:

Students come from 11 Catholic elementary schools and numerous public schools.  Over 93.3% of the graduates from the class of 2008 chose to continue their education at the college level.

 

 

Accreditation:

North Central Association Commission of School and State of Indiana First-Class (highest) certification.

School year:

Divided into two semesters of 18 weeks, each with two 9-week reporting periods. Parent/Teacher/Student conferences are held in the fall and spring.

 

 

Curriculum:

College Preparatory.

 

Honors and/or AP classes offered in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language.

Dual Credit Classes: Theatre Arts and Business

 

48 credits required for graduation, beginning with the class of 2010 - 49 credits will be required.

 

Theology is taught daily.

 

Learning Support is available.

 

Power School Student/Parent Grade Access

 

The schedule is a traditional seven-period day.

 

 

Co-Curricular:

Bishop Luers offers many opportunities for spiritual growth through retreats, liturgies, workshops, service projects, and prayer services. All students participate in service projects which serve the school and local community. Fine Arts performances include drama, music, choir, art displays, and talent shows. Bishop Luers has 24 sports in which students may participate. There are 20 clubs and organizations for students to join and develop their talents.

 

 

Athletics:

Bishop Luers High School students compete in all sports within the Summit Athletic Conference. Sports include: football, volleyball, golf, tennis, swimming, diving, track, cross-country, baseball, softball, basketball, wrestling, soccer, and cheerleading.  Club sports offered are: dance team, bowling, rifle, lacrosse, and boys volleyball.

 

 

Organizations:

National Honor Society, Academic Bowl, Key Club, Student Congress, Drama Club, Minstrels, Band, Speech & Debate, Newspaper, Yearbook, World Culture Club, S.A.D.D., Future Business Leaders of America, Freshman Mentoring, and Student Ambassadors, and Dance Team
