SCHOOL SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS

2007 – 2008

 

 

BUTLER

Department of Chemistry – This scholarship is for students interested in majoring in chemistry.  The scholarship may be in addition to other scholarship programs.  Student must submit a completed application, have a combined SAT critical reading and math score of at least 1230, or an ACT score of at least 27, or be ranked in the top 10% of their class.  In you need more information contact Butler by e-mail sgreenfi@butler.edu.

 

DeSALES UNIVERSITY

Department of Philosophy and Theology sponsors the National Catholic Essay contest and the National Catholic Film Contest.  The annual contest is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who will compete for the six scholarship awards.  Additionally, DeSales offers a guaranteed scholarship of $10,000 over four years to all graduates of Catholic High Schools.  Visit DeSales’ Catholic School Grant program to learn more.

 

INDIANA TECH

The Dean’s Scholarship deadline has been extended to March 10, 2008.  The requirements are as follows:  3.8 GPA, 1250 SAT or 28 ACT, Acceptance into Indiana Tech, Two page essay on one of the two following topics: What is the biggest challenge that you’ve faced and how did you overcome it?; or What is your greatest accomplishment to date? Why?; and one letter of recommendation.  Apply online at www.indianatech.edu.

 

IPFW ALLEN COUNTY EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS  Applicants must be a resident of Allen County; be accepted at either Purdue University, West Lafayette, or IPFW; and be majoring in Consumer and Family Sciences at the time of scholarship application.  Scholarship criteria will be based upon scholastic achievement, leadership and citizenship in school and community, career plans, and recommendations.   The deadline is May 1

There is a pamphlet in the file in room 144 of all scholarships available to IPFW applicants.  Be sure to notice the deadline for each scholarship.

 

IPFW - ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

Department of Mathematical Sciences – Applicants to send a letter of application, a transcript and two letters of recommendation from teachers, including at least one Mathematics teacher.  Applicants must also place into MA 165 (calculus) either on the IPFW mathematics placement test or the mathematics placement test that Purdue Univ. administers at the high school.  Information about times and locations of the placement test is available from ACCS Testing Center.  Call 481-6600.  Deadline is February 29, 2008.

College of Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science – Scholarships for Excellence can be found in the scholarship box in room 144.  Deadline:  March 1, 2008

 

IPFW

Crossroads scholarship:  Ivy Tech-Northeast and IPFW are pleased to announce the availability of full-tuition and half-tuition scholarships for Crossroad students.  Eligibility is not based on financial need.  The scholarship committee, will select the recipients after a review of the applicant’s academic performance, SAT./ACT test scores, letter of recommendation, and career goal statement. Applications are due March 12, 2008.

 

IVY TECH

Crossroads scholarship:  Ivy Tech-Northeast and IPFW are pleased to announce the availability of full-tuition and half-tuition scholarships for Crossroad students.  Eligibility is not based on financial need.  The scholarship committee, will select the recipients after a review of the applicant’s academic performance, SAT./ACT test scores, letter of recommendation, and career goal statement. Applications are due March 12, 2008.

 

ROBERT MORRIS COLLEGE

OHIO NORTHERN

Check the file in room 144 for the list of Scholarships and Awards available to students who have applied to Ohio Northern and meet their requirements.

PURDUE

College of Agriculture has several scholarships available for incoming freshman.  There is one scholarship designated for students of Allen County, who will be enrolling in the College of Agriculture, for the 2008-09 academic year.  To apply for this scholarship, and all other scholarships available in the College of Agriculture, requires a completed on line application.  http://www.agriculture.purdue.edu/oap/scholarshipsFellowships.asp

Once a student has be admitted, they can access the scholarship application by using their Purdue Career Account.  Deadline: February 1, 2008.

 

TRI-STATE UNIVERSITY

Check out the file in room 144 for a list of scholarships offered to students who are in the top 10% of their class.  Applicants must have a 3.8 (on a 4.0) G.P.A., and score 1260 or more on the S.A.T. and a minimum of 28 on the Act.

 

UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLISThere is a brochure in room 144 listing several scholarships and grants available to students who plan to attend U of I.  Contact the school or ask Mrs. Odom for a copy of the brochure.

 

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS

Catholic Heritage – Applicant must show verification they attended an Allen County Catholic School, be a first-time St. Francis student beginning the fall of 2007, fill out all required financial aid paperwork and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A.

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS

SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS TALENT DAY – Scholarships will be awarded in Studio Art, Communication Arts and Graphic Design, Art Education, Computer Art, Communication, Music Technology, Choir, Pep Band, and Jazz Ensemble.  Talent Day is November 30, 2007.  Contact the school for more information.

 

UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS

Child of Alumni – In the file in room 144 you will find a grant application for students who are the son/daughter of a University of St. Francis Alumni.  Student must meet Univ. of St. Francis eligibility criteria, must be a full-time undergraduate student, and fill out all required financial aid paperwork.

Tom Jehl Lifetime Sports Academy Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded to students who have participated in the Lifetime Sports Academy and have actively volunteered in the community.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and enroll as a full-time undergraduate student.  Applications due by April 16.

 

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN INDIANA

There are a number of scholarship opportunities for students with strong academic backgrounds.  If you have top grades in a college preparatory high school curriculum and strong performance on standardized tests, you may qualify for some of the most competitive scholarships.  For complete details on scholarships and grants contact the USI office of admissions at 800-467-1965 or 812/464-1765.

 

UNIVERSITYOF SOUTHERN INDIANA

Presidential Scholarship - To be considered for this scholarship, students must rank first or second in their class and must have achieved a minimum SAT score of 1200 or a minimum ACT score of 27.  Application for scholarship and admission must be submitted by January 15, 2008. 

Baccalaureate / Doctor of Medicine Scholarship – To qualify students must earn a minimum SAT score of 1200 or 1800 or ACT score of 27 and a GPA of 3.5. Application for scholarship and admission must be submitted by January 15, 2008. 

In addition to these competitive scholarships, students who rank in the top 25 percent of their class and are on track to graduate with the Academic Honors Diploma are eligible to receive a Departmental Scholarship.  To receive this scholarship, students must apply for admission by March 1, 2008.

 

VINCENNES UNIVERSITY

Dorothy M. Walters Scholarship – This scholarship provides full tuition, fees, books, room and board at Vincennes for two years and for two additional years at Vincennes or another baccalaureate college.  Applicant must plan to enter a career in education and meet the following criteria:  A total score of 1100 or above on the SAT or 25 or above on the ACT, rank in the top 10% of your high school class, be active in high school activities and a student leader.  Applications are due by February 1, 2008.
